About Me

I've been a journalist for twenty years, and in that time, I have had the privilege of interviewing many of the most successful people in the country, including Julia Child, Fred Rogers, Tommy John, Mark Spitz, Sesame Street founder Joan Ganz Cooney, speed skater Eric Heiden, tennis champion Billie Jean King, motivational sensation Zig Ziglar, Olympic hurdler Lolo Jones, Levar Burton, and many more.

The most meaningful interviews I have had, though, have been with unsung, everyday heroes. These are the people who experience the most brutal losses and keep going on to inspire others. Or those who are badly damaged and fight their way back with immense bravery while refusing to lose their zest for life. Or those who simply love to give of themselves in small and large ways.

I have learned a lot from the people who have been willing to share their stories with me. They have made my life better and taught me how to reframe each and every challenge that comes my way.

I spent my childhood in the Rocky Mountains, just north of Aspen, Colorado, and love the outdoors and the mountains.

I am also the author of "The Legend of the Kettle Daughter," forthcoming from The Hedgehog Poetry Press, and "Finding Betty Crocker."

Most importantly, I am mom to Ryan and Charlotte, wife to David and devoted to the Catholic faith. For me, writing is a form of celebrating the spirit and reaching toward heaven.
